did anyone ever imagine what type of stuff a journalist would write about them if they were being interviewd for a big movie magazine like empire or total film or something? (after your first real feature had won some awards at cannes and sundance)

Wow. This is amazing. After all the recent posts about Hollywood's self-importance.

I have no problem with someone's creation reserving due credit and applause, but when fame is the only thing on the creator's mind, I have no interest in what they have to say.

it's not about fame AT ALL...i was just saying to my boyfriend yesterday that i would never put my name on a poster for one of my movies, i would want it to speak for itself, like i also think that movies should use way more unknown actors because casting a star just to lift the box office gross probably detracts from the story you are trying to tell (the film would no longer be about, i dunno... a single mother struggling to support her family, instead it's julia roberts struggling to suppost her family which takes so much away from the character you created )...

oh, i've forgotten what i was talking about... ok: Being interviewed in a film magazine would mean that you were being paid for doing what you love, which is a good thing.

i just started this topic cos i thought it would be fun...i wanted to see how people percieved themselves and what type of filmmaker they aspired to being...

I don't care for the fame necessarily, but I do care that people know that I made a particular film etc, so I'd be more than happy for my name to be on the poster, and more than angry if my name wasn't in the credits

Empire> So, your first major film. Your first major credit.
m0ds> Yup.
Empire> What did you think of the audience's reaction?
m0ds> I'm happy with it.
Empire> Even though the majoirty of them didn't like it?
m0ds> It's taught me not to make a movie like that again.

It's a perfectly acceptable question, especially if you are trying to avoid doing any actual work on your scripts, leave queen alone .

here's an extract from empire march 2015

"having drawn the short straw, this reporter caught up with director Nemed Phoenix in a santa monica jail cell to discuss his new movie, the long awaited big screen "hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy". When asked what he was doing in such surroundings he replied "i cant remember, who are you? who am i? my head hurts. i think woody allen called me a whiny neurotic so i punched him, or maybe i violated the restraining order on Liv Tyler i dont know!, look lets just talk about my film ok?"
so Nemed, tell me about your film.
"i DONT WANNA TALK ABOUT IT"
"right"

as to your other point queen, yes unknown actors please, road to perdition was destroyed by tom hanks

Interesting topic... I would hope my interview does not golike this:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=2 face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><table border="0" width="90%" bgcolor="#333333" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0"><tr><td width="100%"><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" bgcolor="#FF9900"><tr><td width="100%" bgcolor="#DDDDDD"><font size=2 face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Q. Have you kept in contact with [Michael Jackson] over the years?

A. He's called me a few times. He wanted to play the Riddler in "Batman Forever," and they wanted me to do his "Scream" music video. There was really no role for him in "Batman Forever," and I was working on something else when the "Scream" video came out.

Q. You were brought aboard to overhaul the "Batman" franchise because supposedly Tim Burton's version was too dark, right?

A. They said "Batman Returns" ended it--I don't know, people returned the toys, and they hated it or something. And then we made it a big hit again with "Batman Forever." Now they say I ruined it with "Batman and Robin." But you know what? Batman's been around since 1939. He will kick *** in Gotham again, trust me.

Q. With you at the helm?

A. [Laughing] No, no, with someone younger and more talented, I'm sure.
</font></td></tr></table></td></tr></table></BLOCKQUOTE>

Nice to see he can joke about it.

On another point; like it or not big name actors are the only reason why most of the movie going public go to the cinema. What I can't stand now is the lack of GOOD big name actors and the fact that on a movie poster you can't see the actual title because its obscured by VIN DIESEL.

Vin Diesel is a monkey.
Eminem won an oscar for music that regresses mankind into monkeys, then Vin Diesel makes monkeys look cool (to other monkeys)

Its all an elaborate plan by hollywood to regress humanity into apes so that we will think their films are good
or possibly to allow them to remake classics for the monkey generation

"gone with the wind beeatch" starring martin lawrence and j-lo

"Casablanca, booty town" this ones for Vin

"the Godfather" with Ali G as Marlon Brando

God i'm pompous today
